1844 N-3 R2 Repunched 18 AU55. Glossy bluish steel brown. There is very little if any actual wear on this cent, but the strike is a bit soft on the highpoints, as often seen on this die variety. The only marks are a light nick in the field under star 5, a small carbon spot just right of the inner curl, and another in the field touching the lowest curl.
M-LDS, die state d. The fields are smooth and reflective and covered with fine die polishing lines thanks to a fresh die polishing. The repunching at the 18 is gone and a series of tiny but clearly defined rim cud breaks show at stars 8-9. Covered with a very thin layer of lacquer. DWH #0939.
Estimated Value $200-UP.
