1847 N-3 R3 Repunched Date EF45. Glossy medium brown with traces of frosty mint color in protected areas of the obverse. Excellent eye appeal for the grade with only a couple trivial defects, including a small spot of darker toning under the front edge of the eyeball and a dull nick on the top of the N in ONE.
LDS, die state e (Newcomb's old #33), with 3 rim cud breaks on the reverse, and all 3 cuds are clear on this example. Traces of repunching remain visible inside the top of the 8 but it is gone on the other 3 digits. Not in the overall condition census for the variety, but tied for CC#6 of more than a dozen known in this die state.
Removed from an NGC slab graded MS62BN (NGC label included, and it shows the attribution and Reiver provenance). DWH #2978.
Estimated Value $100-UP.
