1847 N-30 R4 Repunched 1 F15. Attractive glossy medium brown. Smooth with only trivial contact marks, none notable. A small pinprick hidden inside the bottom of the second S in STATES is a good identifying mark. Extremely rare
terminal die state, die state c, with a strong rim cud at the bottom of the reverse from off the stem tip to below the left edge of the ribbon loop. The repunching under the base of the 1 remains visible. Tied for CC#2 of only 7 known with the cud break, and the cud is poorly defined on several of those pieces. This is the plate coin for the die state in the 2001 Grellman book on late date cents. Noyes photo #30246. DWH #3236.
Estimated Value $100-UP.
