1853 N-2 R3 MS62. Frosty bluish steel and chocolate brown with generous traces of mint red remaining on the obverse. The surfaces are satiny and quite attractive. The only defects are a tiny carbon spot at the base of the neck and another at the left edge of the U in UNITED. Neither of these defects is at all distracting and the eye appeal of this cent is excellent.
E-MDS, die state a. The diagonal die line at the throat is dull but clearly visible. CC#2 behind a slightly finer example in the Grellman census. DWH #3187.
Estimated Value $300-UP.
