1853 N-14 R2+ Repunched 1 AU55. Sharpness virtually mint state but the obverse was very lightly cleaned so the highpoints are a few shades lighter than the fields. The reverse, however, is not affected at all. No spots or stains; a pair of small rim nicks under the left edge of the 3 in the date are the only notable marks. The obverse is frosty bluish steel brown with lighter brown and tan toning in protected areas while the reverse is a more uniform frosty medium brown.
E-MDS, die state c, with a thin but strong rim cud break from star 11.5 down to star 12.5. The repunching under the upright of the 1 is still visible.
Removed from an NCS slab graded Uncirculated details improperly cleaned (NCS label included, and it shows the attribution and Reiver provenance). DWH #3012.
Estimated Value $200-UP.
