Wernher von Braun: Two Reception Photographs, One Boldly Signed and Inscribed to Clark McClelland. Wernher von Braun (1912-1977) German/American aerospace engineer who, after WWII, he was secretly moved to the United States under the program, Operation Paperclip along with 1600 other German scientists who most were associated with the Nazi party. But the collective knowledge of these men powered America's Space Program with many integrated into the Marshall Space Flight Center. Von Braun is a highly controversial figure widely seen as escaping justice for his Nazi war crimes due to the Americans' desire to beat the Soviets in the Cold War. A very interesting time for America.
Lot consists of two vintage original B&W stills, one double-weight, both capturing von Braun, almost always the tallest in the room, with one boldly signed to Clark, Best Wishes, Werner von Braun in bold black Sharpie Both photos in superior condition with the unsigned photo also featuring Jack Stokes, aerospace engineer largely responsible for SkyLab.
