Seven (7) Mercury Era Press Kits Issued by NASA with Several Having the Cooperation Of Participating Manufacturers, General Dynamics, IBM etc. Very fine collection of vintage original booklets and press kits during the 3+ years of the Project Mercury era. Collection includes:
1.) Two sets of very similar press kits of Alan Shepard's Mercury 3 Flight, America's first man in space, May 5, 1961. Basically each having multiple copies of two pamphlets full of B&W printed photos each with details of the image. 10pp and 7pp with other NASA immediate release information and reprints of a National Geographic feature story
2.) Flight of the Astronaut Grissom and the Liberty Bell 7, July 21, 1961 12 pp Overview in photos and text.
3.) Walter Schirra's Six Orbits of Sigma 7, October 3, 1962, 44 pages, far more comprehensive than the previous two chock full of photo and two maps of his trajectory.
4.) Astronaut Gordon Cooper Jr. and the Faith 7 May 15-16. 1963. 42 pp again an improvement as printed on glossy stock with a full overview of the mission and a great number of photograps
5.) Impressive General Dynamics Astronautics MERCURY-ATLAS MA-8 Launch Information and Notebook, tabbed and 25 pages.
6.) Project Mercury Tracking and Ground Instrumentation Network Press Release but mostly a catch all for various notes and press including the full MA-9 transcript.
7.) Project Fire Atlas Space Launch Vehicle Information, General Dynamics 20 pp plus one photo of Atlas Rocket. Tabbed and fascinating reading.
