William Harrison Ainsworth: Rare Autographed Manuscript Signed, Opening Passages of THE LANCASHIRE WITCHES Published 1849 (1805-1882) Very successful English novelist and writer who in 1849 published THE LANCASHIRE WITCHES serialized in The Sunday Times then published in book form. It is the only novel by Ainsworth that has remained in continuous print. Novel is based on a true story of the Pendle Witches who were executed in 1612 for causing harm by witchcraft. It is considered his best work and one of the most major English novels dealing with witchcraft. Offered is the opening passage of the novel handwritten and signed by W. Harrison Ainsworth one page 8.25 x 5" and in superior condition with a fine signature by the author.
