Undated Civil War Correspondence (1815-1872) Celebrated Major General of the Civil War in command of the Army of the Potomac. He fought in many key battles but his defeat of the Confederate Army let by General Lee at the Battle of Gettysburg is a victory played out in countless books, films, documentaries and of course reenactments. Extremely clean note signed very likely during the Civil War, to his Asst. Adjutant-General, Lt. Col. Simon Barstow who served Mead with distinction. "Lt. Col. Barstow, Send this communication by couple of trusty orderlies to (indecipherable) I want it delivered to Gen. (indecipherable) before he leaves tomorrow with I understand he will do at 9:00 am G.G.
