George McClellan (1826-1885) Commanding General of the United States Army during the Civil War until such time he was relieved of duty. Autographed note signed to Hamilton Fish, Governor of New York and later, United States Secretary of State to President Grant. A very cordial note expressing he had been away for a week and returned to see the invitation by Governor Fish. 6.25 x 4.25 in very fine condition with evidence of handling and a tiny puncture (stabilized) and it is no all but invisible.
