Francisco Franco: Caudillo of Spain Invitation to President of Uruguay with Franco's Coat of Arms in the form of a Paper Seal. Francisco Franco (1936-1975) Spanish general who overthrew the Second Spanish Republic and ruled Spain from 1939-1975 and appointed himself Prime Minister for those same years. Andres Martinez Trueba served as the last President of Uruguay and as politically opposite from Franco as one could be. However, Franco maintained diplomatic and cultural ties with Latin American nations and this formal oversized envelope was likely non-political. There is no evidence the two ever met. Paper seal is in excellent condition, the embossing very clean and sharp. Envelope is 8.25 x 10". Estimated Value $75 - 100
