Beautiful Bezalel Sterling Silver Etrog Box, Jerusalem, circa 1950. This silver etrog box, produced in Jerusalem circa 1950 and attributed to the Bezalel School tradition, is a finely crafted Judaica object designed to protect and present the citron (etrog) used during the festival of Sukkot. The container is formed in a chalice-like profile with a removable upper section, richly decorated throughout with dense hand-worked floral and foliate engraving and roundel medallions, resting on a broad, ornamented foot. The interior of both sections is gilt, providing a warm contrast to the silver exterior. Hebrew and maker's marks appear on the stem, consistent with Israeli silver production of the mid-20th century and the Bezalel aesthetic that blended European metalworking techniques with Near Eastern decorative vocabulary.
