Sterling Silver Breastplate in the Manner of Ilya Schor, Signed, with Book. Striking silver ceremonial breastplate executed in the expressive modern Hebrew style associated with Ilya Schor, featuring engraved panels with biblical figures and tribal symbolism beneath pierced tablet-form inscriptions representing the Twelve Tribes of Israel. The upper register displays Hebrew names cut into the tablets, while the lower relief panels present dramatic sculptural scenes rendered in Schor's characteristic folkloric manner, combining angular geometry, energetic movement, and strong narrative symbolism. The reverse bears a stamp reading "I. Schor" along with a Hebrew mark, and the piece is accompanied by a book on Ilya Schor, reinforcing its attribution and stylistic context.
The breastplate is suspended from triple silver chains and fitted with six hanging silver pieces along the lower edge (one missing). The piece originates from the collection of Avram Halpern of New York City, whose Judaica collection was dispersed by Kedem in 2021. Overall condition is good with expected wear consistent with age and handling. 9.8 ozt. of silver.
