S. Minsky, Musicians with Double Bass. Oil on canvas depicting an intimate genre scene of three musicians performing together, centered around a standing double bass player flanked by two companions, likely violinists or woodwind players. The figures are rendered in a loose, painterly manner, with softened facial features and expressive brushwork emphasizing atmosphere over precise detail. The palette is subdued and moody, dominated by deep blues, browns, and muted greens, with warm highlights on the instruments-particularly the rich orange tones of the double bass-providing visual focus.
The composition suggests an informal street or courtyard setting, with architectural elements loosely indicated in the background. Brushwork is broad and gestural, contributing to a sense of movement and musical rhythm within the scene. Signed "S. Minsky" at the lower right.
Oil on canvas, framed in a molded wood frame with gilt inner edge and linen liner. The reverse shows an old paper backing with tears, losses, and general wear, along with hanging wire intact. The painting surface exhibits light surface wear and age toning consistent with use and display, while the frame shows scattered abrasions and small losses to the finish.
