Bezalel-Style Carved Wood Box, Jerusalem, circa 1920. A finely crafted wooden presentation box in the Bezalel style, dating to the early 20th century, with Hebrew inscription on the lid reading "If I forget thee, O Jerusalem", a phrase drawn from Psalm 137 and long associated with Jewish memory, mourning, and devotion to the Holy City. The box is carved in imitation of bound books along its sides, giving the appearance of a small library, and retains its fitted interior lining in pale blue tufted fabric. The lid is decorated with black-painted Hebrew lettering and delicate bird motifs within a geometric border.
The box shows light wear consistent with age, including surface handling marks and minor interior discoloration consistent with long-term storage. Hinges are intact and the figurative and inscriptional elements remain clear and legible.
Dimensions: approx. 6 x 4.25 x 3.75".
