1795 C-6a R2 Without Pole G5. Flipover Double Strike. A couple points sharper where properly struck, but both sides are covered with fine roughness. No verdigris. The notable marks are a strong rim nick opposite the chin and a thin planchet crack (as struck) off the bust tip. Boldly double struck and flipped over between the strikes. The bottom of the wreath and entire fraction are clearly visible before the chin of Ms Liberty and UNITED shows where the date should be. The only evidence of the obverse from the initial strike shows where "OF" would be located on the second reverse, and there you can see the top of the cap followed by LI just to the right where AM should be. A dramatic mint error in spite of the relatively low grade. Weight 75.1 grains.
Estimated Value $250-UP.
